Vaser Liposuction FAQs
What is Vaser Liposuction and How Does It Differ From Traditional Liposuction?
Vaser liposuction is an advanced body shaping technique which removes areas of unwanted fat. Advanced ultrasound technology is used as an alternative to traditional liposuction to gently reshape the body. Traditional liposuction uses harsh techniques to remove fat that can leave patients facing a long recovery period.
Vaser liposuction is different from traditional body contouring techniques in that it is able to differentiate fat cells from other important tissues such as blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue.
How Does Vaser Liposuction Work?
The area that is to be treated is injected with a tumescent saline liquid. This helps numb the area and constrict the blood vessels which restricts blood flow to the treatment area. This solution makes it easier to break up the fatty tissue with ultrasound energy. Next, a probe is inserted into the area transmitting sound energy which breaks up the fatty tissue while preserving other important tissue. As the fat is liquefied, it is removed through a small suction tube which minimizes damage to surrounding tissue.
Which Areas of the Body Can Be Treated With Vaser Liposuction?
Doctors have successfully treated many areas on the body including the following areas: face, chin, abdomen, thighs, knees, calves, ankles, buttocks, hips, chest, back, arms and just about any other area that needs treatment.
How Much Fat Can Be Removed and Can Multiple Areas Be Treated At Once?
Through the use of Vaser Liposuction, doctors can treat multiple areas at one time. Your doctor will be able to give you a better estimate of how much fat will be removed during the procedure.
Vaser liposuction is not a weight-loss solution. The purpose of this treatment is to give you a slimmer shape. You may not notice much weight loss after the procedure, but you should be pleased with your slimmer figure.
Where Is Vaser Liposuction Performed?
The procedure is usually performed in a sterile environment at a doctor’s office or outpatient clinic under local anesthesia, and in some cases, general anesthesia. Your physician will decide which is best for you.
How Soon Will I See My Results and What Is the Recovery Time?
This varies depending on the amount of treatment received. Most patients see results directly after having the procedure. Full results are seen within three or four months after treatment. Your doctor will let you know what to expect.
Is Future Weight Gain Possible and Will Fat Migrate To Other Areas?
Once you have Vaser liposuction, if you begin to gain weight it will be proportionately distributed all over your body.
Once fat is removed it is gone. Therefore, if you lead a healthy lifestyle and have a good diet, it should not return. However, fat is necessary to a healthy body, therefore, some fat will remain on untreated areas.
If you do gain a significant amount of weight, the fatty tissue will expand. You can also expect normal changes as you age also.
How Can I Be Sure Vaser Liposuction Is Right for Me?
If you are frustrated by certain areas of your body that appear to be resistant to diet and exercise, Vaser liposuction may be the solution.
Is the Treatment Affordable?
Vaser liposuction is an advanced procedure. Cost will depend on the areas to be treated and the extent of the treatment. Your doctor will be able to give you an estimate of the cost involved once you decide which areas are to be treated.
