The cost of liposuction is comprised of several fees including: the surgeon’s fees, anesthesia fees, preoperative laboratory test fees, facility fees and post operative recovery aids such as medication and compression garments. Repeat laboratory tests and different compression garments may be required over the course of recovery. For example, one compression garment may be required for the initial recovery period and a smaller compression garment may be required when swelling goes down in the later recovery stages. Liposuction costs may be presented as one fee which includes the surgeon, anesthesia and facility. Alternatively, some surgeons may break the fees down into separate fees.
Liposuction Cost Breakdown
Liposuction costs vary because of numerous other factors, including:
Number of Treatment Areas: One area is less costly than two or more areas. Treatment for multiple areas simultaneously allows for anesthesia costs to be combined.
Patient Size and Complexity: The size of the patient and the complexity involved in the procedure affects liposuction costs. Small areas require less than liposuction treatment than larger areas.
Surgeon’s Expertise: The level of the surgeon’s expertise may affect the surgeon’s fee.
Secondary Procedure: The possible desire for a secondary procedure affects liposuction costs.
Geographics: The geographic location of the surgeon may affect total costs for liposuction.
Technique: The technique used in the procedure may affect costs. Liposuction that requires the use of new equipment such as ultrasonic or laser lipo may be slightly higher than traditional liposuction costs.
Treatment Area: The area that requires treatment may affect surgical fee costs. Surgical fees for the lower abdomen are approximately $2,000.00, but arms may range from $1,500.00 to $5,000.00. The back might range from $1,500.00 to $4,000.00. Breast may range from $3,000.00 to $7,500.00. Inner thigh or outer thigh and knees may be $2,000 to $5,000.00 and the outer thigh alone might be $1,600.00 to $5,000.00.
Consultation Fees: Some surgeons may charge initial consultation fees that may be waived upon commencement of the procedure.
Liposuction Financing: Liposuction may be paid in full at the time of the procedure by cash, check or credit card. Otherwise, liposuction may be financed by patient financing companies that offer flexible down payment options, reasonable terms and little to no interest.
