Body Etching via Liposuction

Six pack abs, shapely buttocks, and athletic looking legs are a common goal for many. Body etching is not well known by many, but may one day soon be a procedure that many are interested in to achieve such a toned bodily appearance. The fundamental technique used in body etching is liposuction.

Some plastic surgeons perform body etching through liposuction to enhance muscle definition on the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, calves and ankles. They may also perform a fat transfer to augment an area of the body. It is an attractive option for producing an eye catching appearance of health and well-being. In fact, the outcome is not typically associated with pain, week long recovery time or excessive scarring.

The idea behind body etching is to insert very tiny cannulas under the skin to remove and sculpt fat. In some cases, the removed fat may be transferred to other areas of the body to augment the area such as the buttocks. When the buttocks are treated, the procedure may be referred to as the Brazilian Butt Lift. Because very small cannulas are used, the incisions are very small and scarring is not very visible. There are risks associated with body etching, but the risk of complications is reduced by following pre and post operative instructions provided by the plastic surgeon. It is important to note that body etching is not a substitute for diet and exercise. Body etching is a treatment for areas that do not respond to exercise and diet. Fat that is removed does not return to the treatment location, but may appear in different areas with weight gain.
