About the Surgeon
At Plastic & Hand Surgical Associates, the importance of a strong, personal relationship between patient and physician is understood and every effort is made to maintain the individuality of that relationship. We want you to feel comfortable with your care - please be aware that our staff is always happy to discuss your concerns and suggestions.
Our clinical staff includes registered occupational therapists, x-ray technicians, registered nurses, surgical technicians, nurse practitioners and a physician assistant.
Dr. Flaherty is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is also certified as having added qualifications in surgery of the hand. In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Flaherty is on the teaching faculty of the Lahey Clinic and serves as a clinical assistant professor at Maine Medical Center for the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Dr. Flaherty graduated from Boston College and Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Maine Medical Center and his residency in plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery at the University of Rochester in New York. Dr. Flaherty completed a head and neck fellowship at Roswell Park Memorial Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. He joined Plastic & Hand Surgical Associates in 1981.
