Michael L. Thornton, D.O., FACOS is fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon and diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery providing you with an array of advanced surgical procedures in facial cosmetic surgery, cosmetic breast surgery, body contouring surgery, post-bariatric weight loss surgery, and skin rejuvenation.
Dr. Michael Thornton is a native Texan, who was born in Dallas and graduated from Frisco High School. He received his premedical Bachelor's degree from Baylor University and received his Medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. Dr. Michael Thornton completed a comprehensive five-year general surgery residency through Michigan State University affiliated hospitals at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center in Mount Clemens, MI and completed an additional one-year Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the prestigious and internationally recognized R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, where he acquired extensive training in the reconstruction of complex traumatic wounds and soft tissue injuries.
Following his creative passion, Dr. Michael Thornton furthered his surgical training and completed a dedicated, one-year advanced Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship, accredited and recognized by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery where he performed concentrated work in all areas of cosmetic surgery including facial plastic surgery, rhinoplasty, cosmetic breast surgery, liposuction, body contouring surgery, non-surgical aesthetics, skin care rejuvenation, and laser medicine.
Dr. Michael Thornton is a diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, which is the only American certifying board that tests knowledge and experience exclusively in art of Cosmetic Surgery, and he is currently serving a 3-year term as an oral board examiner for the ABCS. In addition, he is dual-board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery in both general surgery and surgical critical care / trauma surgery. Because of Dr. Michael Thornton's multiple board certifications and surgical dedication, he has been bestowed the honor as Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (FACOS) and as Fellow in the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (FAACS). In addition, he has over 14-years of combined surgical training and operative experience and was named "2008 Top Docs" in Fort Worth, Texas Magazine, in the specialty of cosmetic surgery.
