About the Surgeon
Dr. Fernando Burstein is a world renowned Atlanta plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in aesthetic surgery of the face. A leader in the field, Dr. Burstein has extensive experience with the latest facial plastic surgery techniques including advanced rhinoplasty (surgery of the nose), dermal fat grating, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and facelift techniques.
Dr. Burstein has received Atlanta Magazine's "Top Doctor in the Atlanta Area" distinction on multiple occasions, and was recognized as one of the top physicians in America in fall 2008. He has published over 100 articles and book chapters covering many facial plastic and reconstructive surgery topics. and holds an academic appointment at Emory University as an associate clinical professor. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and served as president of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2006. Dr. Burstein is an active member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Burstein also trained in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and received a degree in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Yale University in 1988. He went on to complete an advanced fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery at UCLA before joining the team at Atlanta Plastic Surgery P.C. in 1989. He served as Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite from 1991 to 2001, and has been the director of the Center for Craniofacial Disorders at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta since 1989. In addition, he is currently on the staff at Northside Hospital and at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. Dr. Burstein is dedicated to teaching young surgeons and using his skills to help others.
