About the Surgeon

Dr. Derek was born in Oklahoma City and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Casady High School in Oklahoma City.

A recipient of the Morehead Scholarship, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During this time, he earned Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma honors. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English.

After college, he returned to Oklahoma City to attend the University of Oklahoma Medical School. There he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors (top 5% of class).

Most recently, Dr. Derek has spent six years at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Both his General Surgery and Plastic Surgery residency training programs were completed there.

UCLA has been honored consistently by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top 5 hospitals in the country. In addition, its plastic surgery program is recognized as one of the premier programs in the country. The faculty is comprised of various world-renowned experts in the fields of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Derek has recently returned to Oklahoma City to be close to his family.
