About the Doctor
Dr. Daniel R. Knight was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. He received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 1979 and M.D. from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport in 1983. After completing a five year residency in General Surgery at LSU in 1988, he completed a two year residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at LSU-New Orleans. He completed his training with a fellowship in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery in Phoenix.
Dr. Knight entered private practice in 1991 in Shreveport at the Highland Clinic. He was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1997 and recertified in 2006. He is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Knight's early practice was heavily weighted in reconstructive surgery following trauma and cancer treatment. He performed the area's first microvascular free fibula mandible reconstruction in 1992 and was co-surgeon on the area's first successful thumb reconstruction using a microvascular great toe transfer in 1996.
Dr. Knight spent several years as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at LSU School of Medicine teaching residents reconstructive hand surgery.
Although Dr. Knight dedicates a significant portion of his practice to breast reconstruction, his focus is primarily on cosmetic surgery, with a particular interest in cosmetic surgery of the breast and body contouring. He has extensive experience in treating women with silicone breast implant problems. Patients from Boston to Los Angeles have traveled to Shreveport for their plastic surgery not only for Dr. Knight's expertise but also because of the affordability of the surgery, the caring attitude of his staff and the comfortable, state of the art facilities. This allows the overall cosmetic surgery experience to be a very pleasant one.
